Select a 2 pound chuck or bottom round steak. (cut into 2 inch pieces). Roll meat in seasoned flour and brown thoroughly in 1 tbsp. fat.
Cover with a quart of water. Simmer 2 hours, adding water if necessary.

Add:
2 cups diced potatoes
1 cup diced turnips
1 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup diced parsnips
1 cup diced celery
1 green pepper, diced
1/2 cup diced onion
1 tbsp. salt
2 beef bouillon cubes

Directions:
Directions:
Cook until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes. If desired, thicken liquid for gravy.
The flavor of this stew gets better each time it is reheated.
