2 T olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 - 2 1/2 # ground beef
1/2 t salt, more to taste
1 t each pepper, sugar and parsley flakes
1/8 t sweet basil
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1 can mushroom pieces and liquid (4 oz.)
8-12 oz mostaccioli noodles
small amt. crushed red pepper, oregano, and garlic powder

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions and garlic in oil. Add ground beef and cook until meat browns. Drain off excess grease. Add remaining ingredients, except mostaccioli. Bring to boiling point, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer slowly for about 1 hour or until sauce thickens. Can add additional tomato sauce or a little water if sauce appears too dry. Cook mostaccioli according to basic directions on package. Drain, and mix into sauce. Serve with grated romano or parmesan cheese.
