2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
*3 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
12 oz. chocolate chips

* For a softer, rounded cookie, add 1/2 cup more flour
Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º
Mix shortening, butter, sugars, egg and vanilla extract throughly. Blend dry ingredients then add to mixture. Mix in nuts and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 8-10 minutes.
