Chocolate Pudding Recipe

1½ 12 oz bars German sweet chocolate
2 T boiling water
4 eggs, separated
4 T confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla
12 ladyfingers
1 cup heavy cream

Directions:
Melt chocolate in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling, water. Add boiling water to chocolate and whisk until smooth. Remove from heat and beat in egg yolks, one at at time. Add 2 T of the sugar and vanilla, beat well and set aside.

In medium bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold about one cup into chocolate mixture, then return to bowl and fold into remaining egg whites gently but thoroughly.

Line large loaf pan (5 x 10 x 3) with wax paper. Place layer of split ladyfingers on bottom of pan. Spread half of the chocolate mixture on top. Cover with another layer of split ladyfingers and spread remaining chocolate mixture on top. Cover with plastic wrap or wax paper and refrigerate at least eight hours or preferably overnight. Unmold onto serving plate and remove wax paper. Sweeten cream with remaining two tablespoons confectioner's sugar and whip until stiff. Slice pudding and serve with whipped cream.
