Directions:1. Preheat the over to 400 ºF 2. Line your pan with non-stick aluminum foil or regular heavy duty aluminum foil (making sure to cover the bottom and sides) if using regular foil make sure to use baking spray so nothing sticks. 3. Line the tray with a single layer of saltine crackers. 4. Make the caramel sauce by placing the brown sugar, butter, and salt in a saucepan cooking in medium heat stirring frequently until the butter melts. 5. Continue to cook for another 3-5 minutes just until the mixture comes to a boil and starts to darken. 6. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. 7. Pour the hot brown sugar mixture over the crackers and spread evenly. 8. Move the pan to the oven and bake for 5 minutes. 9. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl by doing 30-second intervals and stirring between each interval until the chocolate is melted. 10. Let the crackers cool for about 1 minute until the caramel stops bubbling, and then pour the melted chocolate over the crackers. Using a spatula spread the chocolate evenly over the crackers. 11. This is when you can add any extra things you’d like (sprinkles, chopped nuts Etc.) 12. I recommend cooling the crackers overnight in the refrigerator before cracking them. 13. Once cooled carefully remove from the pan and gently peel the foil away. (Discard any pieces with foil stuck on) 14. Crack your crackers using a knife or your hands whatever is easier. ENJOY! |
