3 c. flour
1 c. vegetable shortening
2 beaten eggs
1 c. sugar
3 T. milk
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour and shortening in bowl and cut with pastry knife until like coarse cornmeal. Combine in another bowl eggs and sugar and beat until light. Add milk, soda, nutmeg and salt and mix well. Add to flour mixture and beat until smooth. Chill 1-2 hours.
Roll out in small amounts to thickness of ¼ in. Cut out into shapes. Decorate with sprinkles before baking or frost after baking. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 º F for 10 min until light golden brown.

Grandma Welty used to make a lot of cut-out cookies and we often had decorating parties. The nutmeg is what makes these special.
