This recipe came from Grandpa Herman's family. He came from Germany at 7 years old and was raised by Aunt Witte. His parents never came to America. The cookie was made for the holidays and enjoyed by all. They were always on Grandma Minnie's Christmas plate and my mother Anna's Christmas plate too.
