1 cup butter
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
¼ teaspoon salt
Maraschino Cherries

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together butter and sugar.
2. Add extracts and beat well.
3. Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
4. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
5. Form small balls and place on a cookie sheet.
6. Cook in a preheated 375º oven for 10-12 minutes, depending on how big you roll the balls. Smaller ones might only take about 8 minutes)
7. While the cookies are cooking, take your maraschino cherries, dry them off with a paper towel, and cut them in half.
8. After cookies come out of oven, put on rack to cool and place a cherry in the middle of the cookie.

These were baked at Christmas time and were always included on the cookie trays we would deliver to our neighbors. This recipe was give to me by Deborah, our first neighbor at our first house.
