1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. light molasses
½ tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vinegar
4½ c. flour
1½ tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves

Directions:
Directions:
sift all dry ingredients together and set aside
Cream butter; add sugar and beat until light and fluffy
Beat in egg; Blend in molasses and vinegar
Gradually add dry ingredients to mixture
Chill dough for 3 hours or more

Roll dough out to ⅛" thick on a well floured surface.
Cut and place on a greased cookie sheet

Bake at 375º for 6-7 minutes

this recipe can also be used to create ornaments for the tree! Prior to baking poke a hole in the top of cookie for hanging. (a straw works well) Leave cookie our for 3-4 days before hanging to dry it out
