4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
2 c. all-purpose flour
1½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1½ c. packed brown sugar
¾ c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
12 oz. white chocolate, chopped
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350º F. Melt unsweetened chocolate in small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool slightly. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Beat brown sugar, butter and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat until well blended. Beat in melted chocolate. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well at low speed after each addition. Stir in white chocolate and nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until set. Cool on cookie sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely. Store in airtight container for 1 week, or freeze for longer storage.
