Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 box (15.25 ounces) German chocolate cake mix
14 ounces caramels, about 45
⅔ cup evaporated milk, divided
¾ cup butter, melted
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Fit parchment paper (or foil), cutting to fit, into the length of a 9 by 13-inch baking pan, pushing it into the corners and up the sides of the pan; allow the excess to overhang the pan edges. Cut a second piece of parchment and fit it into the width of the pan, perpendicular to the first sheet Spray with nonstick cooking spray, if using foil.

In a double boiler, melt the caramels and ⅓ cup evaporated milk over low heat until melted and mixed.

In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, remaining milk, butter, and nuts. Press half of the mix into the pan and bake for 10 minutes.

Remove pan from oven; sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Drizzle with caramel mixture. Top with the remaining dough in the form of mini pancakes. It may not cover completely. Bake for an additional 20 minutes. Cool slightly. Use the sling to remove from pan and cut into bars.
