¼ cup dry white wine
2 T. water
2 T. soy sauce
1 t. granulated sugar
⅛ t. ground ginger
1 can (8 oz.) whole water chestnuts (drained)
12 slices bacon, halved crosswise

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine wine, water, soy sauce, sugar and ground ginger.
Add water chestnuts (cutting large ones in half).
Cover and marinate at room temperature for at least 1 hour.
Cook bacon until almost done. The bacon may be cooked in a microwave or in a frying pan on the stovetop. Drain the bacon. Precooked bacon may also be used.
Wrap a piece of partially cooked bacon around each water chestnut. Secure with a toothpick. Place in a pan with sides. Then bake in a conventional peheated 350º oven until the bacon is done. A microwave can also be used to finish cooking the bacon. Remove and serve as an appetizer.
