Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 c sugar
2 Tbsp soft butter
3 beaten eggs
dash of salt
2 c buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 baking powder
dash of nutmeg
3 - 4 c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix everything together (start with 3 c flour and add more as needed). I pat the batter out on a floured counter and cut out the donuts. I fry the holes as well. Have lard @ 365 - 370º and turn the donuts when they pop up. I always use a candy thermometer. I usually mix up and refrigerate and then do them the next day. I usually double the recipe as well.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I usually had donuts on hand. I would put so many in a package and freeze them in the garage freezer. They seemed to disappear faster than I thought - turned out Cory was the guilty one. He liked them in the pickup. He would go out the mud room, grab a package and be gone.
