Peel and core pears, then run pears through a food grinder. Add 1 pint of sugar for every quart of pears. For every gallon of pears add 1 #2 can of crushed pineapple. In deep pot cook pears, sugar and pineapple. Stir often. When pears are transparent place in jars.

To make pear preserves, follow the directions above omitting the food grinder. Instead, slice pears.
Also, omit adding the pineapple.
