Bars:
1 1/4 c white sugar
1 1/4 c white syrup
1 1/4 c chunky peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
8-9 c Rice Crispies

Frosting:
1 c milk chocolate chips
1 c butterscotch chips

Directions:
Directions:
Bars: Heat sryup & sugar til sugar is melted. Do not boil. Add the peanut butter and vanilla. Pour over 8-9 cups Rice Krispie cereal. Mix well. Pat into a 15x10 jelly roll pan.

Frosting: Melt together and add a large dolop of chunky peanut butter. Mix and frost bars.

I originally made this recipe with Special K cereal in 1962. Sometime or other not having Special K, I used Rice Krispies and found we liked them better. Adding the large spoonful of peanut butter to the frosting came from a girlfriend who always said she did it.
This recipe was in the 1st Westby cookbook.
