Directions:
Put 3 slices day old white bread broken into large pieces in a buttered 1 quart baking dish. In bowl, combine 1 1/2 c milk, 2 egg yolks lightly beaten, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/4 tsp salt. Pour the milk mixture over the bread, pushing down any bread that isn't immersed and bake the mixture in a preheated oven (350º F) for 40 min, or until the pudding is set. Spread 3 to 4 tbsp strawberry jam over the pudding. In a bowl, beat 2 egg whites with a pinch of salt and 2 tsp sugar, until the meringue holds stiff peaks. Spread it over the jam.
