3 c. homogenized milk
1/2 qt. homogenized milk + extra
2 c. sugar
2 rounded tablespoons of flour
Pinch of salt
4-6 eggs
Vanilla to taste

Directions:
Put 3 c. of milk in double boiler and cook until milk skim's. While bringing milk to skim, combine 1 c. of the sugar, flour and salt and mix together with enough cold milk to make it smooth. Stir into hot milk until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and cool. Beat 4-6 eggs well and add to cooled custard. After scalding ice cream freezer can and rinsing in cold water, place the 1/2 qt. of cold milk into can. Pour custard into can and stir well adding the other cup of sugar and vanilla to taste. Crank or plug in freezer until done.

*Note - Replacing 1 pt. of the 1/2 qt. of cold milk with whipping cream will make richer.

Growing up, making homemade ice cream was a family event. From Mom getting it ready to us helping Dad put the ice and salt in the freezer and then helping him crank. The end result was heaven! Best when served with Mom's Mayonnaise Cake! ~ Michael
