1 1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c applesauce
1 1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp each of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, & nutmeg
2 c raisins
1 c currants
1 lb mixed fruit
Maraschino cherries
1 c chunk pineapple
1 c walnut meats
1 c pecans, cut up

Directions:
Directions:
Put raisins, currants, and mixed fruit in boiling water & let stand a few minutes.
Drain Maraschino cherries and pineapple for about 1 hr.
Mix all ingredients. You can bake in coffee cans or in loaf pans. Set pan of water in bottom of oven. Bake at 250º for 3 or 4 hrs.
