5 cans of stewed tomatoes
1-2 cans of tomato paste
32 oz. chicken broth
1 bottle of dry red wine (make sure it’s one you would drink before you put it in sauce)!
Mushrooms (combination of button and Portobello)
1 onion
1-2 pkgs. of hot or mild sausage (or ground beef)
3-4 pkgs. of fresh basil (just use leaves)
1-2 pkgs. of fresh oregano (just use leaves)
5-6 cloves of garlic
Fresh ground pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Sautee mushrooms and onion with crushed garlic, salt, and fresh ground pepper.
Put into pot and add chicken broth turn on heat.
Brown meat of choice (if using sausage remove from casing and then brown).
Add to pot, let boil and flavors mingle.
Then add ½ - ¾ of the bottle of wine (drink the rest during cooking process!).
Bring to a boil again and let the flavor infuse for awhile.
Then in a lg. bowl pour in the cans of stewed tomatoes.
Crush with your hands and remove any hard pieces of tomato.
Then add to sauce.
Bring to low boil and let cook for 20 min or so.
Then add tomato paste for desired consistency.
Coarsely chop basil and oregano, after sauce has simmered for awhile add fresh herbs.
Add salt to taste if needed.
Give flavors time to mingle.
Then pour over pasta, rice, or use in lasagna.
