Ingredients: 1 lb ground Italian sausage 5 oz package sliced pepperoni ½ cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced ½ cup green pepper, chopped 1 jar or can spaghetti sauce 1 jar or can pizza sauce 1 small can sliced mushrooms 4 cups cooked pasta, any kind 2 cups grated Italian cheeses: provolone/mozzarella/Monterey Jack/Parmesan, etc.

Directions:Brown sausage in a large sauce pan. Cut pepperoni slices into quarters and add to browned sausage along with onion, garlic and green pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Drain well. Add spaghetti and pizza sauces along with drained mushrooms to pan. Simmer. (Sauce can be made the night before and the dish assembled the next day.) Cook pasta according to package directions. Spoon small amount of meat mixture into bottom of baking dish. Top with layer of pasta followed by ½ of meat mixture. Sprinkle half of grated cheese on top. Repeat with remaining pasta and meat mixture. Bake in 350º oven for 15 minutes. Remove and top with remaining grated cheese. Return to oven until cheese is browning and bubbly, about 15 minutes. Best if it sits for 15 minutes or so. |
