1 c oatmeal
1 1/2 c boiling water
1/2 c shortening
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 c flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs vanilla

Topping
1 stick butter, melted
3/4 c brown sugar
1 tbs milk

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over oatmeal. Let stand. Add shortening, when cool add remaining ingredients. Mix. Bake 45 min at 350º. Put topping on while warm.


Topping
Mix ingredients and boil for 1 minute stirring. Simmer to thicken. Add a few drops of milk at a time to right consistency for spreading.
