FILLING:

1 Cup raisins
1 T flour
½ C sugar
½ C chopped nuts (optional)
½ C water


DOUGH

1 egg
1 C shortening
½ C milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
3½ C sifted flour
½ tsp salt

FILLING

Combine all ingredients except nuts in a sauce pan and cook until thick. Add nuts if you think that they are necessary :(

DOUGH

Cream sugar, shortening, egg until fluffy.

Sift dry ingredients and add vanilla mix into dry ingredients.
Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to ⅛" thick. cut in rounds.
Place on a greased cookie sheet and top with 1 T filling then place another round of dough & press edges firmly together.
Pinch lightly for steam release.

Bake at 350º for about 20 minutes or until brown.
