Ingredients:  
1 c sugar
1 c molasses
1 c Crisco
1 c hot water
2 t baking soda
1 T cinnamon
1 T ginger
1 egg
1 t salt
4 to 4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ingredients as called for. Add the flour. Using an ice cream scoop, place dough balls on cookie sheets covered with parchment paper.Bake for 13 minutes at 375.

Frost with confectioners sugar frosting.

These cookies are from my mother's childhood. When I first made them, I used lard. Now I use Crisco. I'm not sure if they are any healthier, but they surely do taste good and are a family favorite.
