Grandma Gentile's Blueberry Cake Recipe

c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
tsp salt
1 c milk
2 tsp vanilla
2 - 2 blueberries

Cream together the shortening, sugar and eggs.
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix together the milk and vanilla.
Add the milk to the creamed mixture alternately with the dry ingredients.
Flour the blueberries, It keeps them from sinking to the bottom.
Fold the blueberries into the batter.
Pour into greased 13x9 pan. Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
Bake at 350

My recipe doesn't give a bake time but I believe it was about 30 minutes.

If I remember correctly, I was told that Aunt Ruby watched Grandma in order to put this recipe down on paper because Grandma didn't measure anything.

This recipe makes a fantastic apple cake. Substitute very coarsely chopped apples for the blueberries and add some cinnamon along with the dry ingredients.
