1 cup plus 2 tbsps granulated sugar
1 cup plus 2 tbsps brown sugar
3 eggs
1 ½ tsps vanilla
¾ tsp water
1 ½ cups shortening
1 ½ cups sifted flour
¾ cup graham flour
1 ½ tsps soda
1 ½ tsps salt
1 large package (12 ounces) semi sweet chocolate chips
¾ cup slivered almonds
1 ¼ cups oatmeal

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Mix all at once--sugars, eggs, vanilla, water and shortening. Blend together flours, baking soda, and salt. Add to eggs/shortening mixture. Add chips and nuts. Mix. Add oatmeal.

Use an ice cream scoop and place rounded dough on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake for 14 minutes. Check for doneness. Depending on size of scoop, time may be longer or shorter.

I always double this recipe as they are so popular. We reheat the cookies in the microwave, 10 seconds for each cookie, and it's like they just came out of the oven. I also tell friends to think of them as fiber.
