4 cups sliced cucumbers
1 large sliced sweet onion
¾ cup sugar
2 tbsps salt
2 cups vinegar
1 cup water
1 tbsp oil
Tomato

Directions:
Directions:
Layer cucumbers and onions in large, deep storage container. Mix together sugar, salt, vinegar, water and oil. Pour over cucumbers mixture. Put lid on container. Chill at least 6 to 8 hours before serving. When ready to serve, chop a tomato and put on top for color.

We were in Warm Springs, GA and had this dish at a restaurant that Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt had visited. The meal was buffet style and excellent. The Cucumber Salad is what took me back for seconds.
