1 C. Sugar
½ C. Butter
1 Egg, beaten
1½ t. Vanilla
¾ t. Nutmeg
½ C. Sour Cream
½ t. Baking Soda
½ t. Baking Powder
¼ t. Salt
2½ - 3 C. Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together. Blend in the egg, vanilla, sour cream and nutmeg. Start with 2 cups of flour in a bowl. Add the baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the sour cream mixture. If needed, add enough flour to make dough stiff enough to roll. Roll out on a floured board and cut into shapes using Chanukah cookie cutters. Sprinkle with decorating sugar. Bake at 400 º for 6 -7 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

While it is quite simple and plain, this is mom's favorite cookie. It was a childhood staple made for her by Sylvia Dempsey. She asks for them every year.
