Ingredients: Crust: 1 pkg. Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts Filling: ½ c. sugar ½ c. milk ½ c. liquid whipping cream ¼ c. butter ____________________________ 2 T. cornstarch 2 T. milk 1 t. vanilla Apple Layer: 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cut into thin slices 1 T. flour ¼ t. cinnamon
Glaze: ½ c. powdered sugar 1 T. milk ¼ t. vanilla 1 T. butter, softened

Directions:1) Heat oven to 400ºF. Set out pie crusts to thaw. You will use both crusts for this recipe. 2) In medium saucepan, combine first 4 ingredients for filling; cook over medium heat-low heat until butter is melted. Stirring occasionally. 3) In small bowl, combine cornstarch and 2 T. milk; blend until smooth. Blend into mixture in saucepan; cook 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 t. vanilla. 4) In medium bowl, combine apple slices, flour, and cinnamon; mix well. Pour filling into crust-lined pan. Arrange apple mixture evenly over filling. Top with second crust; seal edges and flute. Cut slits with knife in several places on top crust. 5) Bake at 400ºF. for 30-40 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender. Cool 30 minutes. 6) Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine all glaze ingredients; blend until smooth. Pour and spread glaze evenly over warm pie. Refrigerate 1 ½ hours before serving. Store in refrigerator. |
