1 large onion, chopped
3 small cloves garlic, minced
2 jalapenos, chopped
1 t. cumin
½ t. oregano
¼ baking soda (approximately)
8 oz. American cheese (Velveeta)
1 (5.5oz.) tomato juice
1 can Carnation milk
1 can chopped green chilies

Directions:
Directions:
Saute chopped onion and jalapenos in a little olive oil (just enough to keep from sticking). Stir often on medium heat, heat for several minutes until onions are soft. Add green chilies and tomato juice. Reduce heat and simmer until juice has boiled down. Do not rush! Add cumin and oregano. Add soda; stir and mix well. Place cheese slices on top of mixture-reduce heat and let cheese melt stirring often. Add canned milk and mix well. Continue on low heat stirring often until consistency you want.
