½ c. elderberries
¾ c. sugar
2 T. flour, heaping
1 c. cream (sour, heavy cream or half and half)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º. Wash berries and put into pie crust. Combine sugar and flour. Add cream and blend. Pour mixture over fruit. Bake at 425º for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350º and bake for 30 minutes. Makes 1 pie.

Daniel especially loved Elderberry Pie. He would take a bite and say "Mach mich ganz blaech" (makes me pale, as in to swoon or pass out)-- it was that good. His mother made it first and Lizzie learned to make it from her.
Loretta remembers when they made it with cream that had soured and they called it "Sour Cream Elderberry Pie".
