½ pound butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 ¾ cups sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, then add vanilla and sour cream. Sift together cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into sour cream mixture.

Combine nuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spoon half the batter into a well-buttered tube pan with a removable bottom. Sprinkle with half the nut mixture. Cover with the rest of the batter and then sprinkle the top with the remaining nut mixture.

Bake for 1 hour. Cool in the pan on a rack. When completely cool, carefully remove the cake from the pan; placing topping side up, on a cake plate.
