Filling:
2 c. sugar
2 c. dark molasses
2 eggs, well beaten
2 pints water
2 heaping T. flour
2-4 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt


Crumb topping:
2 c. flour
c. sugar
c. lard
1 t. soda
1 t. cream of tarter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Boil together first five ingredients. Mix in vanilla and salt. Pour into unbaked pie crusts. Mix together crumb topping and spread over the filling. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Makes 4 pies if pans are not unusually big.

This is an older version of Lizzie's Vanilla Crumb Pie that Loretta had. The first recipe is one Regina had that is likely one Lizzie revised in later years.
