1 cup quick oatmeal
1 ½ cups boiling water
½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 well beaten eggs
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 teaspoon soda
1 tsp salt

Topping:
5 tbls of butter
¼ cup canned milk
½ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cocoanut

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oats and let stand until cool. Cream ½ cup of shortening. Add the sugars and 2 well beaten eggs to the oatmeal mixture. Add the remaining ingredients. Bake at 350º until done. While the cake is baking, mix the topping ingredients to have ready when the cake is done. Sprinkle the topping on the cake while hot.
