Ingredients:  
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped dates
1 egg beaten
1/4 tspn salt
1/2 or more cup chopped walnuts
2 Tbspns butter
1 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tspn baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Pour water over dates, then add butter to melt.
Add sugar, then egg and sir well.
Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Pour into well greased loaf pan and bake at 350º for 55 Minutes

This delicious bread is best when served the next day.
Slice thin and spread with cream cheese.
This was my grandmother's recipe.
