1 c butter
1 c sugar
3 eggs
3 c flour
3 ⅓ t baking powder
⅔ t salt
1 t vanilla

The original directions were: Ball and sqush cookies. Cook at 370 for ~10 minutes.

When I was maybe 10 years old, I tried to make these, following the instructions above. It didn't go well. For the record, if you mix all the ingredients together at once, you get a sloppy mess all over the oven. So Mom added the following:

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Add dry ingredients, sifted together. Then make into balls. sqush with sugared glass bottom and bake.
