Ingredients: 1 cup flour 4 tablespoons Crisco ½ tsp salt 3 tbsp ice water
My Great Aunt Peg gave me this recipe in 1968, but I cannot recall why or where this happened. She thought she was a wonderful cook and I remember the truly tasty Southern Fried Chicken she would prepare for us when we visited her and Uncle Jim in Washington D.C. They had a bird named “Butchie” that had free-range of their house. Butchie had a whole playground of toys behind one of their chairs in the living room. He would perch on the bathroom mirror in the morning while anyone was brushing their teeth and ask: “What-chi doing?” This really freaked out my friend, Rosemary, when we visited them when we were in high school. I thought it was normal!
