8 oz. elbow macaroni
6 Tbsp. butter
¼ cup flour
½ tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
¾ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
3 cups milk
¾ lb. shredded sharp cheese
¾ cup crushed cornflake crumbs

1. Preheat oven to 375º F.
2. Cook macaroni as directed on the package. Drain.
3. In medium pan, Melt 6 Tbsp. butter.
4. Whisk in flour and seasonings.
5. Add milk.
6. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
7. Add cheese.
8. Place cooked macaroni in 2-1/2 quart casserole dish.
9. Stir in the cheese mixture.
10. Sprinkle cornflake crumbs over the top.
11. Bake for 40 minutes.

When I was a kid, my mom used to write down this recipe in the morning before she went to work and place it under the (rotatory dial!) phone. She'd leave a note asking me to make it for dinner when I came home from school. I remember feeling so proud when my dad would serve it up at the dinner table that night.
