Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 reg. size bag of lentils
1 reg. size bacon pkg.
1 small onion
1 large size garlic
3 small tomatoes
1 lb. ham (optional)
6 pickled jalapeños chilies, more if you like it spicy – (optional)
Salt (to taste)
Optional: Sour cream and queso fresco

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot, boil water. Once it starts boiling, pour in lentils and garlic and cook for 10 minutes on low. Turn off, set aside, and remove garlic. Cut bacon into ½ inch slices and fry until crispy on a pan. Pull out the bacon and put it into the pot where you have the lentils. Cut onions into small pieces and sauté them in the fat in the pan where you cooked the bacon (if you feel it’s too much grease you can remove some). Cut the tomatoes into small pieces and do the same for the ham if you are adding it. Once the onion is sautéed, add the diced tomatoes and ham so it can continue to sauté. Once the tomato is pretty much turned into sauce, pour into the pot where you have the lentils.
Add salt to taste (don’t forget bacon and ham have salt so you must taste for before you add salt). Add the chilies if you like it spicy and let it all boil for 5-8 minutes.
