1/2 c firmmly packe light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
3 tbs butter or margarine
7 c (about 6 - 7 medium apples) peeled, cored, sliced green apples
2 1/2 c biscuit mix
1 egg
1/2 c light cream

Directions:
Directions:
Combine brown sugar with cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Place half the sliced apples in 2 qt casserole, top with brown sugar crumbs. Add remaining apples, heaping them high. Combine biscuit mix with egg beaten with light cream. Knead a few times on a lightly floured board to form smooth ball. Cut off dough about the size of an egg and reserve for decoration. Roll out remaining dough thickly to cover top of casserole. Place over apples, fastening dough to the edges. Roll out remaining dough, cut out shape of apple, stem, and two leaves. Moisten shapes with water, place on top. Brush entire dough lightly with water, sprinkle with sugar. Bake in preheated oven (375º) 30 - 40 min, or until apples are easily pierced with fork. Serve warm with cream.
