1½ lb. ground beef
6 cups water
3 beef flavored bouillon cubes or 3 Tbsp instant beef bouillon
2 cups carrots, sliced
1½ cups onion, chopped
1½ cups celery, coarsely chopped
½ cup green pepper, chopped
⅓ cup barley
1 tsp. salt
⅛ tsp. pepper
2 bay leaves
¼ cup ketchup
28 oz can (3 cups) tomatoes, undrained
8 oz can tomato sauce

Directions:
Directions:
In a 5 qt dutch oven, brown ground beef, drain. Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 1 hour or until vegetables and barley are tender. Remove bay leaves.
