1 1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c apple sauce
1 1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp each cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg
2 c raisins
1 c currants
1 lb mixed fruit
Maraschino cherries
1 c chunk pineapple
1 c walnuts, chopped
1 c pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, shortening, egg, apple sauce, soda, baking powder, flour, salt, spices.
Put fruit in boiling water and let stand for a few minutes.
Set about 1 hour in drainer.
Line 4 bread tins with aluminum foil.
Set pan of water in bottom of oven.
Bake at 250º for 3 - 4 hrs
