3/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup sour milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 + 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup chopped raisins (optional)
Directions:

Cream 1st 6 ingredients.

Sift next 7 ingredients and add to batter.

Add chopped raisins (optional)

Chill dough

Bake 10 minutes @ 350 degrees F.
