1 egg
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour (add more)
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
½ cup nutmeats
1 tsp. vanilla or spices for flavoring

Nutmeats:
1 cup boiling water
1 cup dates chopped
1 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the nutmeat ingredients--boiling water, chopped dates and butter--and let cool.

Combine the cake ingredients. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes.
