2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cocoa
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups oil
2 eggs
2 bottles ( 1 ounce) each red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 cup buttermilk
Cream Cheese Frosting
1/2 cup ( chopped) pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees : Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round baking pans. Mix flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa in medium bowl. Beat sugar and oil in large bowl with electric mixer on medium- high speed until well blended. Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition. Beat in food coloring, vanilla and vinegar. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, stirring until smooth after each addition. Pour into prepared pans. Bake 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans cool completely on wire racks. Fill and frost cake layers with Cream Cheese Frosting. Sprinkle with nuts.

CREAM CJEESE FROSTING: Beat 1 package (8 oz.) Philadelphia Brand cream cheese, softened and 1 stick (8 tablespoons) margarine or butter, softened in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Gradually beat in 1 package (16 oz.) powdered sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. If frosting becomes too thick beat in milk by small amounts until spreading is smooth.
