1 sheet frozen puff pastry, from a standard package (17.25 oz) thawed
8 Tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter
1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp heavy cream
3 large bananas, peeled and sliced 1/4-inch thick on the diagonal
Powdered sugar
Chocolate candy bar for shavings

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 F. Roll pastry to 1/8"thick; cut out four 5-inch squares.
Place squares on a parchment lined baking sheet; bake for about 15 minutes.
Remove from oven; set aside to cool.

Place butter, sugar, vanilla and salt in a saute pan over medium heat.
Cook, stirring frequently, until butter and sugar are melted and combined, about 5 minutes.
Add banana slices and gently stir until they are coated, remove from heat.

Using a paring knife, remove and discard a 2-inch square from the top center of each pre-baked square;
keeping the bottom intact. Fill the space with the banana sugar mixture.
Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with chocolate shavings.Serve while hot.

It was my father-in-law's favorite dessert and he would always sneak into the kitchen to lick the residual sauce from the pan. When making these "pillows" cut dough along the folds to prevent uneven rising. If you don't want to roll out your own dough, you can buy puff pastry shells that would work fine.
