1 cup applesauce
1 tsp baking soda
1/4tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp. Ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 cup shortening
2 cups flour
Raisins and or currants or both

Directions:
Directions:
Mix applesauce and soda, than add shortening beat.
Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
When adding raisins, flour them and then add to batter.

Bake 1 hour in a moderate oven @ 350 F. Preheat to 400 F and reduce to 350 F.
