1 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup flour

1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup mashed potatoes
6 1/2 - 7 cups flour
2 tsp salt
1 heaping tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the yeast, warm water and 1/2 cup flour together, set aside.

Using a large bowl for the mixing: Scald the milk and mix in the oil and mashed potatoes.
When the mixture is cool enough, add the yeast mixture, mix well. Add all of the other ingredients,
knead well and let rise twice. Roll out and let rise for the third time. Roll out again, and cut into donut shapes.
Deep fry in 365º F frying oil until brown. Drain on a paper towel. Sprinkle with sugar or glaze if desired.
