Ingredients:	Ingredients: Batter 1 c shortening 2 c sugar 4 large eggs 2 t vanilla 1 t butter flavoring (maybe use butter instead of shortening?) 3 c flour 1 1/2 t cinnamon 1 t allspice 1/2 t nutmeg 1/2 t salt 1 1/2 t soda 3/4 c buttermilk 1 c fresh apples, finely chopped or grated 1/2 c pecans, chopped Icing: 1 c sugar 1/2 c water 1 T butter 1/2 c fresh apples, grated or crushed 1/2 t vanilla 1/2 t butter flavoring 1/2 t cinnamon

Directions:	Directions: 325º 1 hour 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean Batter: cream shortening, sugar, then add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Sift flour, spices, soda and salt together and add alternately with buttermilk. Fold in apples and pecans. Blend well. Pour into 10 inch greased and flour dusted stem pan. Remove cake from pan while still hot once done and brush on icing. Icing: combine all ingredients. Bring slowly to boil, stir constantly. Let boil 1 minute then apply to cake while still hot.
