2 lbs raw shrimp
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1-2 onions
1-2 green peppers
Mushrooms
1 can (13½ oz) chicken broth
2 bay leaves
½ teaspoon thyme
½ teaspoon parsley
½-1 teaspoon red pepper
½-1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions, green peppers and mushrooms in oil. Set aside. Put flour in saucepan and brown lightly (about 7 minutes) without burning. In large saucepan heat butter over medium heat. Add flour and mix well. Add vegetables, tomato paste, broth, spices and brown sugar. Stir and simmer 20 minutes (can be made 2 days ahead at this point). Add shrimp and cook about 5 minutes longer until shrimp is cooked. Serve over rice.
