1 c. shortening (Crisco)
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
c. buttermilk
4 large bananas mashed
1 c. or more chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Mix in one at a time, buttermilk, bananas, nuts, and vanilla. Then sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Mix with other ingredients.

Pour batter into 2 lightly greased cake pans or a bundt pan.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour; time may be less if using bundt pan.

Frost with a cream cheese icing or a vanilla icing. If cake is not frosted, it's similar to banana bread.
